I am driving myself nuts trying to go through this process of finding good markets to apply to this year. I had my first full year of art shows last year, and what can I say...I'm hooked. Don't get me wrong, these things are TOUGH. I lost a lot of money, but I also made some back. This is all still new to me and I'm really looking to get into some more "fine art" types of shows. But with fine art comes a HEFTY price. Yikes, after looking at only a couple shows, I'm looking at spending well over $1,000.
It's all so exciting to me though. I really want to do this (sell art) for a living. I can't really fight this feeling anymore. It may sound ridiculous to some people or unrealistic, but I've always had this dream of being an artist. So with this ever growing urge to make it on my own, I've been going crazy searching for new shows to attend. But let me tell you what...there are a lot of hidden costs that go into preparing for these things, especially if you are looking to travel a bit more.
So I'm looking into more shows in the New England area this year. Along with my growing passion of making it on my own, my boyfriend Andrew and I have decided that we are finally going to make the jump to move up there. We've only visited a handful of times, but fell in love quickly. This is kind of a lot to fit into one blog post, and I'm probably just rambling at this point, but I'm going to make an effort to keep using this as my journal. I think it will be good for me and I hope you follow along :)
So cheers to art shows and coffee! I hope I get into some good markets this year! (fingers crossed)
