An original photo encaustic wall art piece that is ready to hang. The photograph was taken on the Cape May beach in New Jersey and framed from wood made out of an old table found in Cape May!
What is Encaustic?
Practiced by ancient Greek artists as far back as the 5th century B.C., it means to heat or burn in.
This piece started with a photograph and then was painted with beeswax, damar resin, and charcoal pigments to create unique texture, depth, and softness. The artwork is infused with each layer of encaustic medium.
The photograph is mounted on an 8"x8" birch wood panel and then beautifully framed in a custom floating wood frame. The frame was salvaged wood from an old table found in Cape May itself. A perfect frame for a Cape May photograph!

Completely archival under normal household conditions. Do not expose to extreme temperatures over 150 degrees Fahrenheit or below freezing. Hanging in hot, direct sunlight is not advised.
The encaustic medium can "bloom" or become cloudy over time up to 1 year. This is one of the unique features of encaustic! Simply polish with a soft cloth to bring back it's shine.
